How Do Hair Transplants Work?

If you are considering getting a hair transplant surgery, it is advisable to learn a little about the procedure before going under the knife. It behooves a patient to weigh the information well before coming to a decision. The top 10 hair transplant clinic in Delhi NCR will give you a brief on the subject, but it does not hurt to do your own research before showing up for the procedure. So, without further ado, let’s find out more about the procedures and how they work to grow hair back when all other remedies fail.

The hair transplant procedure is a rather straightforward one. It involves a transfer of active hair follicles from a hairy part of the scalp to the balding sites. There are two chief procedures of hair transplant, the FUE, and the FUT. Both the process starts by cleaning and anesthetizing of the scalp.

FUE

In FUE or Follicular Unit Extraction, punch incisions are used to extract hair follicles from the back of the scalp. The extraction is done directly through cutting. This process is exacting and thorough. It involves obtaining thousands of hair follicles from the donor site. The FUE hair transplant in Delhi takes place in the three main steps discussed below:

First, the surgeon forges little punch holes in the affected parts of the scalp using a needle or blade. This is in preparation for the transplantation which takes place at the third step. In the final step, hairs are meticulously implanted in these incisions.

Next hair from the donor site is extracted through cutting. The process of extraction is a little complicated and leaves wounds bigger than those received at the recipient site. Normally, the back of the scalp is chosen for this because hair growth is the thickest in that area. So, not only are there more active follicles to be found in that part, but it’s also easier to hide the scars under the thatch of hair.

Lastly, the hairs extracted are put back in the blading area filling the scalp up with hair matching the density of the back of the head.

In one such treatment, hundreds to thousands of hair follicles can be transplanted, depending upon the stage of baldness in the patient. Once the procedure is over, the scalp is covered up with bandages, which needs to be that way until the doctor takes it off. Normally, it takes about a few days until the gauze is taken off.

FUT

Although the top 10 hair transplant clinic in Delhi NCR are partial to the FUE procedure, there are some clinics that offer the FUT or Follicular Unit Transplantation. This is a more invasive procedure in which strips of the scalp skin are transferred surgically from the donor site to the recipient site. Stitches are used to close the wounds. This procedure has a longer operation and recovery time than the FUE technique. The implant aims to achieve thorough skin grafting even natural-looking hair growth all over the head.
